Double Ten: A Simple and Fashionable Desk

The Double Ten desk stands out with its unique blend of bamboo, wood, and metal materials, resulting in a simple yet fashionable design. The skillful use of mortise and tenon joints adds a strong visual impact to the overall aesthetic. Unlike other desks, the Double Ten integrates aesthetics and structure seamlessly, eliminating the need for any metal connectors. This allows for easy disassembly and assembly by hand, making it a perfect choice for online sales and reducing transportation costs.

Measuring 1400mm×70mm×720mm, the Double Ten desk is not only visually appealing but also highly functional. It features leather pockets on the legs, providing additional storage space for books or tablet computers. This versatility makes it suitable for various purposes, catering to the needs of modern individuals.

The production process involves wood cutting, leather sewing, and metal stamping. The desk is primarily made from beech or integrated bamboo, complemented by plastic, leather, and metal components.

Designed by Le Xu, along with the assistance of Yang Cunyuan and Zhou Jiayu, the Double Ten desk offers a convenient assembly process that can be completed in just 3-4 steps. Its innovative structural design, incorporating the mortise and tenon technique and lever principle, ensures both functionality and stability. The desk project commenced in September 2020 and was completed in May 2021 in Hangzhou.

The Double Ten desk was specifically created to meet the needs of the younger generation, characterized by limited income, small living spaces, a preference for online shopping, frequent relocations, and a desire for a higher quality of life. This desk addresses these requirements by offering flexibility, multi-functionality, space-saving features, and easy transportation. Its sleek and fashionable design enhances the overall aesthetic of any living space while remaining affordable due to its flat packaging design.

This exceptional design has been recognized with the Iron A' Design Award in the Furniture Design category in 2022. This prestigious award is bestowed upon well-designed, practical, and innovative creations that meet professional and industrial standards.
